Following the fatal shooting of a family’s pit bull, two open-carry activists went to a police station in Jackson, Mississippi, to file a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. They recorded one of themselves on video walking into a police station openly carrying an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle. The fatal shooting of a 4-year-old pit bull by a Jackson police officer occurred on Friday, November 28, 2014, at about 4:30 p.m. in the 500 block of S. Blackstone Street. A pit bull approached them threateningly and one of the officers responded by firing his weapon, killing the animal. The video, uploaded to YouTube by members of the “Jackson Cop Block & Tactical Patriot,” shows one of two men walking into the Jackson Police Department openly carrying a semi-automatic weapon.
