Trump Confronted Over Report That He Supported Invading Iraq in 2002: ‘I Don’t Remember That’

All it took was a commercial break. At CNN’s presidential town hall in South Carolina, businessman and Republican frontrunner Donald Trump had just finished touting his opposition to invading Iraq in 2002. But during the commercial break, host Anderson Cooper was handed a slip of paper that pointed out a BuzzFeed story — which unearthed a 2002 audio clip from the Howard Stern show. In the Sept. 11, 2002 clip, Stern asked Trump if he supported invading Iraq, and Trump replied: “Yeah, I guess so.” He added: “I wish the first time it was done correctly.” When the town hall resumed, Cooper asked Trump if he remembered saying that. “No,” Trump said. “But I mean, I could have said that. Nobody asked me. I wasn’t a politician, it was probably the first time anybody asked me that question.” Here is the interview in question, the relevant question occurs at the 3:39 mark:
