During remarks at the “Women of Soul Concert” at the White House Thursday night, Barack Obama misspelled “RESPECT” as he was honoring Aretha Franklin. The funniest part was, he apparently failed to realize his mistake as the audience laughed. While Motown records was in located Detroit, Michigan, the audience was reportedly comprised of residents from all 57 states. No word on whether Obama’s gaffe was caused by a teleprompter malfunction, although an unsubstantiated rumor has it that his prepared remarks were inadvertently loaded into the machine in Austrian, causing him to become discombobulated. In any case, somewhere, Dan Quayle is smiling. The flub occurs at the 3:29 mark in the video.
