MSNBC’s Martin Bashir Shouts Down Then Boots Republican Guest

MSNBC Host Kicks Republican Guest Off Show, Martin Bashir Clashes WIth Republican Strategist Trey Hardin, Cuts Interview Short, Bashir interviewed Republican strategist Trey Hardin and asked him to weigh in on recent comments made by Gen. Martin Dempsey on Fox News. Dempsey said he was “disappointed” with a group of veterans who criticized President Obama in a new online documentary.

Bashir highlighted that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who is the highest ranking U.S. military commander, spoke out against this group of veterans.

Hardin responded that Dempsey’s comments were unsurprising since he “serves President Obama right now.”

Bashir interrupted Hardin immediately and asked him to retract his statement. “Sorry, Trey, I cannot allow you to cast such a contemptuous aspersion against a senior military officer by demeaning his service to his country.”

Hardin responded, “I did not demean his services to this country at all.”

“You did by suggesting that the only reason he said that was because he serves the president. Would you please take that comment back?” Bashir fired back.

Hardin attempted to speak over Bashir, asking to please let him answer the question. “I know that you respect democracy and people’s freedom of speech. These retired military—” Hardin said.

“He serves for the United States of America,” Bashir said. “Ok, Trey, you’re not going to take the comment back. Thank you very much.”

Bashir ended the interview and apologized to viewers for getting heated.
