Dem’s Response After Her Opponent Urges Revoking Passports of Known Terrorists

In a debate sponsored by the Iowa Press, Democrat Staci Appel, running for U.S. Congress in Iowa’s 3rd congressional district, admitted that she would not be in favor of voiding the passports of known, admitted members of terrorist organizations. After her Republican opponent, David Young, said that he would urge the State Department “to revoke the passports of those who have admitted that they are part of terrorist organizations.” Appel, who ran unopposed in the Democrat Party primary, said:

“I would not be urging taking away their passports. I think we need to make sure that we work through the system and look through it on a very diligent basis.”
